New ARK: Survival Evolved expansion Genesis delayed to February

Studio Wildcard has announced the delay of the newest expansion for their hugely-popular multiplayer survival game Ark: Survival Evolved. ARK: Genesis is now scheduled to come out next month simultaneously across all platforms.

Dinosaurs, alongside zombies, are an everlasting fixture in most forms of entertainment. But while zombies are going strong as ever in the realm of gaming, fans of the extinct giants weren’t that lucky. Especially AAA publishers have been neglecting dinosaur-themed games for far too long. ARK: Survival Evolved is arguably the biggest game revolving around dinosaurs in the past decades.
We know things have been a bit quiet on Genesis news for the past few weeks, even though there is much more to show you, we’ve been deeply immersed in the pre-release development process. That being said, we’re writing today to tell you that the final release date for Genesis Part 1 is now February 25th, 2020 simultaneously on all platforms.
This additional delay will no doubt come as a disappointment to everyone who is eagerly awaiting Genesis. We’re extremely sorry to push it back an extra month, but as we have been heads-down with the rest of the team polishing, balancing and putting the final pieces together, we really felt that the extra wait will be worth it both for the quality of the base game and the ambitious new expansion.
For many years now, gamers have been enjoying the game and the many meaty expansions. The newest in that line, ARK: Genesis, was supposed to come out last year but the developer couldn’t meet the deadline. After a month of silence, the developer has now announced the new release date of the expansion as February 25th.
It’s not the longest delay we have to endure and with already so much content out there, the one month extra in dev should make the pill easier to swallow. As a notorious title that can have erratic performance, the decision to delay in favor of extra polish and improvements sounds sensible.
